manofglass sent me some really cool stuff to play with, some of which was Preforms. Walt has been so kind and generous and I can't thank him enough. He said it was ugly stuff and I'm to make them beautiful. So I decided to try to cab using just my dremel. Here's what I've got so far Picture 3 is shown wet Tips please!! Walt- what stone is this? Has softer spots that are given me a fit

I can't tell from the picture. Undercutting, where the soft material wears faster is hard to overcome. I try really light pressure.

wow that really shows up as a different color. I have not seen that material unless it is k2 granite.

From my viewpoint you are trying to run a race with a mack truck tied behind you. If you can cab with a dremel, you will be carving nymphs from travertine in no time. Congratulations on what you have done. You indeed are learning a lot about the stone and the tool. Stones of varying hardness are a challenge, but can be dealt with by adjusting pressure, the angle of attack, and by adjusting your design/shape. Once you get the shape you want and have your stone domed, you can probably finish it by hand if need be. Keep us informed.

Its taking shape. Maybe coat the stone with epoxy to fill the pits and create a harder surface then repolish it.

Little better picture. I'd like to know what stone it is. Think I picked a hard one for my first go

Please wear respitory protection.
You are demonstrating above average eye to hand coordination.
