I am amazed you got the basic shape down with a dremel. I bet you could do wonders with a machine.

wow. it would take me 10 min to cut it. if you going to be making cabochons it is worth the money, you can always find room.

Looks like some "nundorite" I've seen. If so, then it is a syenite containing orthoclase feldspar and aegirine.

You might check out area rock clubs. Some have equipment.

You might check out area rock clubs. Some have equipment. There is one here, but they only meet on Thursdays when I am at work. There is a guy not far that gives classes on Saturday that I will go to when he has another one. .

So many inspiring people here making incredibly beautiful things that it kind of pushed me. Plus it gives me something to do while I'm waiting for my tumbles😉

Great start! But you choose a very difficult material, a rather soft one and, besides, with various hardness. Try a nice, hard material such as flint, agate or jasper and you will see it's much easier.

Adrian Thank you-I admit this probably wasn't the best one to start with, but I am pretty pleased with myself.

That polished much better than I expected it would, as it looked so soft. Nice work!
(I'm silently laughing at your rock snot boots too. Been there done that 😆)

Thank you everyone!! The pictures do not due It justice. The guy that I went to was 1 blown away I got as far as I did on a dremel and 2 he was blown away by the stone. He didn't know what it was either but asked if I had more. Sadly I don't. It is only softer in the white spots but it held up well. Only did 300, 600 and then polish on a flat lap. Give me a couple weeks and next up is a very pretty Crazy Lace preform manofglass sent.
