Thank you everyone!! The pictures do not due It justice. The guy that I went to was 1 blown away I got as far as I did on a dremel and 2 he was blown away by the stone. He didn't know what it was either but asked if I had more. Sadly I don't. It is only softer in the white spots but it held up well. Only did 300, 600 and then polish on a flat lap. Give me a couple weeks and next up is a very pretty Crazy Lace preform manofglass sent. I have got a nice polish of finished cabs by rubbing them by hand on diamond buff pads like these: www.amazon.com/Diamond-Polishing-Pads-Marble-Concrete/dp/B0083Q0PMGThere is one that does not list a grit but specifically states buff I found on Ebay for a couple of dollars.

WOW! The final polish really helped bring out the character and colors of the material. I think you said you didn't have room for a genie, but maybe you can keep an eye out for the smaller pixie unit for cheap used. (I think Pat uses a pixie) Technically, I don't have room for mine, either. My family has learned to live with me and my tools. I now have genie, my intarsia grinder and 4" saw in the living room. They occupy a large corner computer desk that used to hold my PC that has since moved on since we all have laptops. I guess you could say, where there is a will, there is way. You seem to have a good eye and eye and hand to coordination for this. You'd love a cabber.

I have actually been looking at the space in my "dinning" room to see what I could do. I don' need a kitchen table Right? 😂 It's more the noise I worry about, and the mess from water. The cabbing is a ton of fun. I really want to learn more.

I do not experience a lot of mess and water with the cabber or the small saw. Susan recommended the saw for inside use and she was spot on. It's the ameritool 4". Very, very quiet and virtually mess free. The cabber is loud on the first wheel the most, but it's not too bad. I don't live in an apartment, so I can't speak to that.

The little tumbler I have is not that loud but my daughter complains. I will look into those and see if it's something I can work in. She will die😂 I already have the kitchen table a mess. It is slowly becoming my work area and rock storage room.

Tela, I have an ancient Pixie, and newer Genie. I use the Genie most, but the Pixie is a good choice, too.

A friend has two Genies. In his living room. In a mobile home. Where there is a will, there is room. 😀
Suggest ear plugs for daughter.

Looks like kyanite to me and by the way you describe it. My only tip is to try hard to work with materials, if you can master them you can master agates and jaspers.
Also try making hearts on a cabbing machine, lots of folks say its impossible or too hard, it is difficult at first when learning but if you can cab a heart you can cab other things including turtles which i should make again!

I looked at Kyanite and doesn't fit. See the picture from manofglass posted on here. Maybe that will help. Ive got a piece I will attempt a heart with. Turtles? Pictures please!

Turtle and heart, what you cant see is that the shell on the turtle is domed and the fins / head are flat. I had someone that wanted one and although it was difficult its possible.

Great job and determination. And of course you need a kitchen table where else you are you going to get a work bench with chairs. From now on no spending money on impractical things like boots or cloths or even food. Until you find a cabbing machine. Pretty rocks first pretty things later.
