Tommy , please give Eva a special thanks from me for taking pics of the rock hunts. Eva, you are wonderful!
And for those of you that have seen the fish fossil in Brenda agate that I found a few years ago, let it be known that I found it right here -
Right underneath where Charley is standing! This was a very productive area for nice colorful agate.
Tommy, did you ever make it to the Q club's agate claim out there? Jean, how do you know this is the same location? The desert looks the same in lots of spots. This pic is a place we stopped on the way to the Brenda agate that was supposed to have some jasper. We didn't find much of anything here. Once we got to the Brenda red agate site, we DID find good material. Lynn

Oh, no no no, Lynn zarguy . Being a desert rat, I am pretty observant as to my surroundings, and know my favorite hounding spots, lol. It is the exact same location I have photos of it and could give you GPS coordinates as well. If I never go to Q again, I would always be able to find my way to that spot. Have been hounding out near Brenda at least three times ('13, '14, '15)! If you didn't find anything good right there, that may be because it has been picked over pretty heavily? It has been hit pretty hard over the years. Used to be some good stuff there, if you are good at lookin'.
I think the name of the Q club's claim out near Brenda is Patriotic Agate. I've been to that location only once, but sure I could find my way back to it again (with club permission, of course, or as a member!). After looking through my computer, I could only find one photo, from the area, and it was facing the opposite way. It was of Jim (used to be wampidy) @wampidytoo @wyroc sitting at the back of his truck, working on the carving that you won that year at Tony's BBQ. Remember that? I still have all the photos taken from the trip to Q in 2014 (four years ago!), but thanks to PB, will have to upload them all over again to Flickr. Need to get photo links in a few threads fixed...
Lynn, glad that you were able to make it to the club's claim, and found some nice stuff. Had I known when we went in 2014 what we would find there, I would have liked to have gone to that location first. Would have spent more time there!
ETA - Don't know why that tag @wyroc isn't working for me. Maybe he has me blocked? WHATEVER! Well, you know who I mean!

rockpickerforever - Jean if I send you a kmz (Google Earth) file of where I think that photo was taken, can you confirm it? I've been flying over the planet via GE trying to identify where we went. I went on Friday with RTHers to a Brenda agate site & found some pretty good material. Then on Sunday I went with the local Qz club to another Brenda agate site, but it was disappointing compared to Friday's location. Of course with 25 vehicles, it sure gets picked over. BTW, the club no longer has the claim. They've let it lapse. They've gotten out of the business of holding claims. At least that's what Gary, our guide told me. I didn't catch his last name, but he has a house in Qz & spends summers in Oregon. Lynn

Oh, you betcha! I wondered if you were going to believe me without proof, ha ha.
Give me a minute, and I can send you an Acme Mapper map of the area.
ETA - Sent you a link in a PM instead.
It is interesting that the club no longer owns claims. Any claims plural, or just that one? If you went on a field trip to the club's claim I spoke of is, would you like me to give you coordinates of that?

zarguy, rockpickerforever I can confirm that it is the same location. Eva and I were there with Jean at that location - we called it Jasper1 on our GPS breadcrumb tracks. If y'all will allow me a bit of CYA here - just for the record yes we approached the claim area with the stated intention of searching the surrounding washes. I personally did not enter the claim and I confined my searching to the washes. Truth be told I only barely care (give a rats ass is what I wanted to say) if anyone in the group did enter the claim and I hope they found wonderful stuff if they did.

Tommy, I went with the QIA club on Sunday to collect Brenda agate. We went to what used to be their claim, but they no longer have any claims. I'm not sure if the place we went on Friday was one of their old ones or not. Lynn

According to a club member I approached at the club information booth at the PowWow, the club has one remaining claim and it is the Brenda agate location. I asked her if I would gain permission to independently access the claim by joining the club and was told no and that only members who accompany the club on their group field trip can have access. Based on this information, correct or incorrect, I acted accordingly and stayed off of the claim.
This is my official truthful and factually correct (CYA) statement.

Prolly the only one on here that can take a nap and stir things up at the same time. I love to be unique and live under the box along with all the other sugar coated trolls. Y'all are so sweet to keep me in your mind even though I am now mostly a woody. I do remember the trip quite well. All I found was junk so Jean hooked me up with some awesome Brenda. Isn't that the same trip where that rotten little woman stole that beautiful blue green rock that was almost mine? I am still crying drocknut. Jim
