Jeeze Loweeze, I am stoked. Prolly the only one on here that can take a nap and stir things up at the same time. I love to be unique and live under the box along with all the other sugar coated trolls. Y'all are so sweet to keep me in your mind even though I am now mostly a woody. I do remember the trip quite well. All I found was junk so Jean hooked me up with some awesome Brenda. Isn't that the same trip where that rotten little woman stole that beautiful blue green rock that was almost mine? I am still crying drocknut . Jim Yes, Jim, that would be the same trip. (That beautiful blue green rock that was almost yours was quite lovely!)
ETA - wampidytoo Just had to add a photo of the purty rock in question
Wonder what Diane ever did with it?

As usual iseem to be late. Is anything happening in Feb at Quartzsite? It is my understanding that Quartzsite rock activities are winding down by early February and all the action shifts to Tucson for the really big shows and sales. I've never been down there for that though.

... I was confirming that we were there with you in 2014 ... Correction - we were there with the group in 2015, not 2014. I'm surprised rockpickerforever didn't catch this

When we left Perry Ln we did a 90 degree left turn, as opposed to the more than 90 degree turn that we made on Fri. It is a bit south of Friday's location. Lynn Thanks for the clarification - I didn't realize there were two locations. Maybe it's the other side of the hill from where we went? There ARE two locations. One I have never been to.

If there are 2 locations, there are probably more. Google Earth shows a few diggings close to one of the Brenda agate locations. Next year I plan to try some spots where I see diggings. Lynn

I've got a 4x4 GMC Sierra. It's not fool proof, as I managed to bury my truck (in the front end) while hounding wth @shotgunner in the north Cadys. Fortunately, gravity worked for me in my situation, and I didn't have to do any shoveling. Good thing, as I was buried to the front differential. You're welcome any time. Dave

The worst part about the drive into the Brenda areas is the desert pin-striping your car ends up with. It was really bad this time - driving into areas and having to listen to the screeching scratching sounds on both sides of the vehicle at the same time. We are used to it - Eva's 4-runner has been driven in there before - but we had two brand new looking vehicles with us and they will never be the same. Speaking of which, melhill1659 did they accept their rental car back without a fuss?

We call them AZ pinstripes, lol. aDave, these photos from the 2014 field trip to Brenda.
Diane's drocknut new to her Ford 4X4 on it's maiden Brenda voyage -
She did not hesitate for even a moment when we hit the dirt. She just plunged right in!
Both sides inaugurated.
Our 2003 F250. Mostly just looks dirty in this photo. Pinstripes aren't showcased so well.
This poor truck went to AZ within two weeks of it being brand new. No hesitation here, either. As mrrockpicker always says, "It's just a truck!
The worst scratches it got in AZ were inflicted during an off-road excursion at Alamo Lake in AZ. We ran a gauntlet of brush at the Northeast end of the lake, looking for petrified palm. Never did find the location. So much for the directions in those old "Gem Guide" books, lol.
Scratches rubbed out the first couple times, after that, just not worth the effort for the now 15 year old truck! The pinstriping keeps being re-applied on any subsequent off-road trips.

Ouch. Something to consider. We call them AZ pinstripes, lol. dave , these photos from the 2014 field trip to Brenda. I've also referred to them as "desert pinstripes." Last time I went to the North Cadys with @shotgunner Scott, I lucked out, as we were pretty much on roads most of the way. Just some light rubbing from some bushes which were not an issue. It looked far worse as the stripes were drawn in the dirt on the truck. I might have to see about getting my son to go. He's been out on some desert trips before, and he bought a "beater" F150 just for that purpose. When we talked about taking trips, he said "there's no way I'm letting you take your truck out there." So, maybe I can talk him into going. I know it's just a pickup, but I was raised with the mindset of taking care of my (our) vehicles. I was much into detailing (no buffers though), so it's a tough mental roadblock for me to overcome. I've got a year to plan for it, so we'll see what happens.

They don't have to come from the desert, they can be mountain pinstripes, as well.
The looks less important than the mechanical running condition of the vehicle. More important to take good care of that. We got conned into taking our truck up a creek* ("The road isn't bad, you can make it just fine!" ) to a gold claim out in Joshua Tree. Hardest off-roading that truck has seen in the 15 years we've had it. Almost modified the side of it (read, "caved in") on a huge rock. Talk about white knuckled passenger! Took me hours to unwind after that trip. Never again in that location...
*ETA - Photo of "road," lol. Full size truck, supercab, eight foot bed. Wide, long and terrible turning radius!
Oh, and a long-ass hood you can't see over at some times.
Going back down, just a little steep!
The truck has had it's share of bumps and dents just driving around town. Shopping carts, parking lots, etc. I quit worrying over every scratch and dent it got, would drive a person crazy!
Not a power buffer to take out the scratches, all done by hand. Too much work, probably why I quit doing it!
I think your son will have fun! Always good to have a second vehicle in your stable. When we would go to the desert, would have to take it easy (no stupid things) as that truck would have to pull our trailer home, as well as be driven into work the next day.
