They are being welded 2 tables together using same long post pipes for ease of alignment and split in half at completion. They will get chopped and modified to adjust optimum working heights for each piece of equipment. Like tile saws dropped lower so they can be operated from a chair. And open access to bottom for bottom drain to overflow to water tank on floor. Saw for cutting and saw for grinding. Got a 16 foot wall to set them against in the basement end to end. Got 4 feet left for what ever. 40 year old 2 section glass kiln bought for a song. Will use one section for making glass plates about 15 inches in diameter to break into tumbles. The other section for spare parts. Pot melts and other glass projects since it is fairly large. Controller is antiquated. Will replace with modern programmable $80 China made unit. controller with switch and thermocouple

Why you doing all this in your house instead of out in that big ol' studio/warehouse barn sized building you built? Seems a room with a view might be nicer than being cooped up in the basement. All that kiln stuff safe to use inside a house? Guess it's not much different than an oven? Any fumes from what you do?

I had cleaned out the basement a couple of years ago and had it waiting for a jewelry metal smithing arrangement. The glass interest came up so it all went down there. Wood stove there too, studio is cold. Wife never goes down there.... Kiln very safe, just like a 1500F oven and has yet to make a smell whatsoever. Well insulated, not too hot to touch. Warm season I can step out to cut and grind w/a nice view. Where have you been ? Probably on RTH, guess I don't move around much. Seems like a lot of new people coming on board.

I love your enthusiasm Jim! Welding those little sticks together is easy and cheap. And it will fit the space. And the tools will be right where they need be. In the long run it pays to have tables that sets stuff right where you need it. By the time I shopped for it Ida built it w/custom fit. Probably easiest way Ann. I'll put one table down there and leave the other in the weld shop. Set equipment on it and measure mods. Make mods on table in weld shop and bring it down for a swap. 2 tile saws and 2 kilns don't need a flat top, better sitting on rails for cooling(kilns) and water drainage(tile saws).
