I have come to the sad conclusion that I won't be doing any soldering in the new future. This past weekend, I packed all of soldering equipment and tools away in weatherproof totes and put them away. Maybe one day, I'll have the house to myself again and I'll be more comfortable getting the torch out again. As it is, the stuff was taking up too much room for not being used. Because I haven't been soldering, I didn't think it would bother me much to put it away, but it did. I get ideas for projects all the time.... Putting away in totes made me feel like I did when I packed my glass tools away and I will never get back to doing that again. Hopefully, in a couple years, I'll be dragging the soldering out again.

I think your main interest is in cabbing and wire wrapping. That being the case, sounds like a wise decision. It's still there if and when you want to get back to it.
I just sold my 10" saw. Felt like a burden lifted.

I’ve been meeting with gentleman who works for hospice He assisted me when my Mom took ill. Through a couple meetings I have discovered he is rock hound of sorts. An Arizona native and His Dad worked in Arizona mines-- near Mammoth. He has tumbler--- but hasn’t been real active really likes rocks and especially turquoise. I presented him with turquoise heart to thank all of hospice for the fine care they provide. Anyway he was showing some interest in my grinding machinery. This would be great to impart the tools to a gent that wants to earnestly start the hobby.

We all go through phases. Perhaps one day you will have the house all to yourself again (no kids, grandkids!) and you will bring the tools back out and use them. Nothing wrong with putting them away "for safekeeping" while you are not using them. A person with more control might say something like, "If I haven't used them in X-number of months/years/whatever, then they can go." Not me! I would never put those kinds of constraints on myself and my "things." As long as there is room to store them at home, and NOT have to pay for storage somewhere, I say let them sit!
Now, if you put them up for sale on Craigslist, that's when I'm going to seriously start questioning your sanity, lol.

I had a secretary that married an ex-marine.
Every Saturday he stood the family at attention. Anything that hadn't been used in the past week -
OUT IT WENT!
Live sparse and prosper with nothing underfoot.

Live sparse and prosper with nothing underfoot. I don't know about all that, but I have been known to pitch a lot of stuff. I simply don't have a lot of room.

It's sad to pack stuff away but as Jean said, "As long as you are just putting them away, and not selling them, there is hope!"

Sorry to hear. I know the feeling. I’ll be back though. Not long now I trust.
