Wow, 1dave . There are so many "G"s! They say gold is where you find it! Looks like it is pretty much all over.
Now I need to go read the link you posted.
Thanks, Dave!
ETA - Our prospecting clubs have a number of claims to the north of us. We have worked several of them. One north of Johannesburg, and two in the Dale Mining District (southeast of 29 Palms, and also north of Joshua Tree). Not worried about getting rich anytime soon, lol.

The map came from here: groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/talk.origins/Rnp3ThcM-jU You can drag the map all over. It is good to know no one else will look.

The thing is that just because there is gold that does not always mean nuggets or visible gold. Like here in Nevada there are only a couple of places you can actually find gold nuggets. Most gold in Nevada is microscopic in rock and this is heap leached with cyanide solutions to remove, which is a lot of work and costly.

I believe a lot of surface gold came from impacts that vaporized the gold that then condensed as tiny specks and fell to the ground.

Yep, just like the alchemists always suspected. Bacteria eats lead and poops gold, just like all the banded iron all came from them eating calcite and pooping iron.
It is a theory.
The iron came from a supernova. The gold came from a supernova.
All the original gold is at the center of the earth with all the other heavy metals. The huge stockpile of radioactive material down there is the only thing that has kept this planet from freezing.
ALL heavy elements (and lots of lite ones too) are here because of more recent impacts large and tiny. We get many tons of new falls every day.

And NOBODY said anything about alchemy. The elemental gold nuggets are formed by most of the bacteria that do this through the conversion of gold chloride in to gold. Basic chemistry, not alchemy.
In this case the bacteria ingest the gold chloride, which is toxic to the bacteria. When it kills the bacteria a casting of pure gold, which is not toxic to the bacteria is formed. Bacteria attach to the surface of that gold and the process repeats over and over so the gold grows like a coral reef. This is why you see those really interesting patterns in so many gold nuggets.
The original bacteria I heard of doing this about 30 years ago (yes this is far from a new discovery) was Bacillus cereus, which they found used gold to plate itself. Then it somehow changed the charge on the gold attracting more gold again growing eventually in to a nugget.
And since you brought up all the heavy metals sinking to the core then why do we find so much uranium at the surface? No radioactive meteorites have ever been found.

Wrong. There are billions of them. James James. So serious. And yet WHERE did the gold and uranium come from? Every atom on this planet came from outer space! AND more is arriving daily.forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/83567/upheaval-complexALL that uranium and vanadium came from the asteroid impact at Upheaval Dome!

www.meteorite.com/meteorite-information/meteorite-facts/By the way technically Earth and its inner space is suspended in outer space. And no, not every atom on Earth is from outer space. Some atoms on Earth are man-made. And others have formed on Earth from radioactive decay. As for my being so serious your passive aggressive behavior really takes the fun out of posting on this site. You still never apologized to me for getting your panties all up in a bunch when you thought I deleted those posts when I simply combined them to clean them up as you asked. All you did was admit I deserve an apology from you but you still never actually apologized.

Boys... Boys... You both are very intelligent men. Agree to disagree. Differences of opinions are what make people ask more questions and to seek the answers. Isn’t that the coolest sh*^t EVER!!!!
