Billy, those are pretty amazing. You folks that do smithing and wrapping make me jealous. I'd love to be able to do something like that. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but my artistic talent level is just about zero. That's great stuff. aDave , My artistic talent is below zero. I do it ,you can too! I copy things I see and like. Vic Vic, if that's the case, you give me hope. I'd love to venture in another lapidary arena, but I'm trying to figure out where time may come into play. Just when I think I have a handle on things, something else pops up. I will take your statement under advisement.

Billy, as talented as you are, you give me hope with your statement. Hopefully, I can clear that plate to start doing something like this. As an aside, since I have you here, I haven't forgotten about you. There have been some delays.

What are the basic tools to get started? Cost minimum. I want to play around and try I think the best tool is a good torch. I think I have seen people on here using a small hand held butane torch. I learned on what I call a plumbers torch which is air/acetylene. I now use a smith little torch with oxygen/propane. Its great for all but the larger pieces. A friend has a chinese knock of the little torch and he seems to like it. I have mentioned here before more tools won't make the silversmith, the natives in NM make awesome pieces and their tools fit in a small tool box. So after a torch, jewelers saw, hammer, files, pliers and a pad to solder on. You will also need a way to polish. If I am around when you come north I will give you a lesson where you will feel comfortable tackling most projects.

Maybe Brainerd, maybe Crosby or Wadena. That part isnt decided yet For now the plan is January. I dont want to hear about the weather either. I'm having some issues with even thinking what its gonna be like. Im excited So I know we will meet up at some point and I cannot wait to meet you and I would love some lessons.

What sort of stone is the pendant? I really like that. That is a Montana Moss agate. It's one of my favorite...but then again most rocks are my favorite.

Everything I want to say has been said. Love the rose & how it sits with the granulation. They look so so round.. did you make these? Mine are (/were) never so round. The white rose is the symbol of Yorkshire so something I might take on learning. I’m so looking forward to getting back to smithing I can’t tell you! I can smell the solder already!!

Pretty much try to make everything myself. Sometime use the premade cups for small stones. I have a bunch of findings I throw on once in awhile.
