Once the house in Napa is cleaned out and renovated, no more adult children moving in, right? We say that now but only time will tell. It's a four bedroom house and much more than we need but we'll fill up the other bedrooms up with adult-child deterrents ... like gym equipment. Or barbed wire...

First thing my parents did when I moved out years ago was turn my bedroom into an office!

When I read the part about the kid moving to Sweden, it gave me the exact opposite of a warm and fuzzy.

ETA - Understand about being surprised by how much crap we bring home. I think we're all guilty of it, lol.
I am legitimately terrified of moving once my parents pass, and we end up heading over to the 'family home' for exactly this reason. They were packrats, so are we. And their house is next door to ours, so we can just easily carry things no more than 100 feet, but I am still utterly daunted by the very idea of this day when it comes. We don't, alas, have a rock travel budget, so we won't be able to make it out there. I'm eager to read the reports, though, because the husband has family he road trips out to see in Oklahoma every so often, so maybe some day the stars will align just so, as we do combine trips like this if there's a good reason, even if the combination leads us fairly far afield.

The majority share of my ancestry is Swedish. But you can diss that cold dark country as much as you wish. I might visit Sweden in the warmer months, but I could never live there. Brrrrr....

I hate you can’t go we’re going to miss y’all! After sorting and moving all those rocks you probably won’t want to see another rock for a while! Can’t imagine having to move mine but alas I’ll have to one day. When Conn passes he’s leaving this house to his kids. If he goes before I do I’ll be building a large studio with loft apartment upstairs in my sisters back yard 😂 Yes that has been approved. How far is your move?

I hate you can’t go we’re going to miss y’all! ... How far is your move? We will miss you guys too - and everyone. We look forward to that trip all year long The move is only about 45 minutes north which is good but yeah... moving rocks haha. It's funny how we can find them and load them in a truck, and haul them home in crates, and wash them and store them ... but moving them just to move them sounds like such a pain in the ass haha. I am actually more concerned about moving my saw ... thankfully I have big strong boy children who owe me more favors than they even remember.

Well, that's a bummer that you folks won't be there. Having just completed our move I understand and don't envy you. I hired a couple of guys from the temp agency to help load the UHaul truck and they were griping about boxes of rocks. Kids these days. Good luck with it and we'll catch up with you another time.

I took that as maybe he is going to do a road trip and relieve you of the problem of having to move so much rock. At a low price. (compared to retail)

Strange request. Talked with my friend. Is anyone going through or near Wisconsin? Would they be willing to take a couple "old ladies" along? Preferable with a trailer or RV. We both travel very light, but would be bringing a couple coolers, tent, bedding, grill ( and supplies for that) and our supplies for area rock hounding trips. Would need to be dropped off at location campground, where we will have a small tent to stay in. Meeting up at Northern IL, Quad Cities IA or Eastern MN locations is possible. We can only have a total of 7 days for the trip, due to animal/farm needs and my work schedule. We would help pay for gas and the inconvenience of having us along. Price is open to negotiation. If not this year, maybe next. Thanks.
