Hello, I will be going down to south and eastern Missouri and mid-northwestern-ish Arkansas this week. We'll be visiting family, but I want to take a couple days to rockhound. Does anybody know any good spots? They can be public or some of those fee for digging spots, or a private land where the owner may let me search for rocks and minerals. (I don't have a big budget but willing to pay a small fee if needed) I'm not a miner or anything like that. I just would really like to find my own specimens, not just buy them. I don't even know what kind of tools would be best really. I'm also open to tag along with members here if they are rockhounding those areas if it works out! I appreciate any tips! Thank you.

How far south in Arkansas are you going? There are several fee-collecting Quartz to the west and northwest of Hot Springs.

You might try Crater of Diamonds State Park near Murfreesboro. A 71 year old woman just found a 3 ct diamond there. She said she had only been looking for about 10 minutes. I hate her. lol But anyway, you might try there.

So far no luck.
