I find these all over the place, some are very cool. Just wondering if anyone knows the correct name of these type of agates- I've heard people here call them lace, water, even prairie and they can't all be right. Some have reds and other colors mixed in and this one is bigger than my fist. Thanks.

You may need to split it in half to find out more about it.

I don't know much about agate nodules. I would guess Fairburn.

Oh, don't i wish! I don't know much about different types of nodules either but I'm sure it isn't a fairburn. Unless it's hiding inside... 😏 Thanks

Unless it's hiding inside... 😏 Thanks I'm no expert, but I've always been of the impression that banding "grows" (forms) inside nodules or seams. Most of the cool banded stuff I've found around here is either clearly broken or inside something that gives no indication of what lies within. I also don't know diddly about Fairburns but the photos you've shared of the ones you've found look to me to be broken pieces that have been rounded by rolling around for gazillions of years. If I'd found that puppy I'd at least slice off a corner before discounting it. Might be a turd, might not.

Yep, I have found some with fairburn patterns on the surface, but most of them have been broken. I've got an entire tub full of rocks that might be something. I believe I have quite a bit of slicing on my schedule for this winter!
