I cleaned up and photographed some of the other stones collected yesterday. These are not from the Camel Mountains, but real close to them and some of the material is the same.

Nice looking material. It will be interesting to see what you do with them. I like the pastel colors in some of them.

Nice looking material. It will be interesting to see what you do with them. I like the pastel colors in some of them. Not going to do much with most of it personally. There are a few pieces I would like to work such as the yellow and orange chalcedonies, which are just such unique colors I don't see often in these stones. In general though I don't like working hard stones much. I like the copper ores and Tiffany stone mainly. I do need certain colors of stones for some projects so will set some aside for future projects. Some I will trade off or sell. A lot of this looks like it would be great for the tumblers. I also have all the Dead Camel jasper some of which I will cut up and probably cab some. I see some really nice stuff in those pieces but have more that I can use. I will keep everyone updated as I get the rest cleaned and maybe even cut up.

vegasjames Is the Camel jasper site under claim? Vic It's a whole mountain of materials. There are claims.if they are properly marked, they should be easy to avoid.

vegasjames Is the Camel jasper site under claim? Vic I was just reading up on the area on another forum yesterday and the post was a couple of years old but they said there were two claims up there. They also said thought that the claims were way up on the mountain and on some very soft, sandy roads. Where we were at at the Camel Mountains was lower, and the road was not soft nor sandy. More like very rough with some very large rocks sticking out we had to be careful to maneuver around. So we were not on any claims. The club members who led us up there know the area pretty well. One of them was born and raised in nearby Fallon, Nevada.
