On my way to Arkansas back in Oct I took a slight detour and stopped at the Rock Sale in Rusk Texas. I was a day early but the gentleman had said it was ok as he and his wife were busy cleaning everything up preparing for Sat's sale. I spent about 2 hours there and realized that going though everything was an impossible task. Ended up with about 300 lbs, Texas Wood, Choyas both whole and cut open, Brazilian agate halves and a bucket of medium sized Septarians. Most everything was $1 a pound with selected material higher. Next time I go I am bringing my small camping chair and spend more time going through it better. No way one person could look at all the rocks in every crate and bucket. He has the Sales Early April and early Oct. Next time I am going to bring a parts shopping list and spend time going through some of the old equipment. That and I didn't even touch the tumbling material or the slabs. The place was a bit overwhelming and one has to go in with a plan to systematically cover all of the material. Only concern is that my truck only safely holds about 1000 to 1100 pounds!! Twice I have loaded up 900 pounds of agate and the truck is definitely a bit more sluggish.

I met the folks at the Clear Lake Gem and Mineral Show, they were setup right behind us each of the last two years. They were at the Houston Show this past weekend. He told me that they have been buying out estates and the rocks and equipment have accumulated. As far as I know they do not sell online. He did mention to me that if I wanted to come up outside their Sale time frame, just e-mail before hand to make sure they are not on the road doing a Gem and Mineral Show.
The old equipment in the Shed probably represents about 95% of every type of rock polishing equipment that has ever been produced, a real museum!

Polished a few of the already cut Brazilian's I picked up at the yard in Rusk; DSC_0267 by Findrocks, on Flickr DSC_0269 by Findrocks, on Flickr DSC_0270 by Findrocks, on Flickr and a White-skin brazilian I picked up from another source. Never seen so much red in a Brazilian before. Wish it had not been so flat. DSC_0272 by Findrocks, on Flickr Plan on taking a slice off of the first 3 and then re-polishing the remainder. Not sure about the last.

That last Brazilian looks like the biggest and least fractured piece of pirhana agate I have seen.

Those people do have some stuff. I don't see being able to see it all in a day; what fun.
