Just FYI. I do not know anyone from the club nor do I really have anything worth donating to the cause but my heart is sick over the whole disaster and we've been watching the details unfold.

That's terrible that they lost all their equipment. I hope the unaccounted for members show up! Wish I had some equipment to spare, but I don't.

It’s a nice hobby—therapeutic, even—but if this ain’t #cartbeforehorse in a war zone . . .

They are still combing the wreckage searching for signs of human remains with close to 10,000 houses burned now. There's a large elderly population up that way and it happened so fast that healthy and fit people barely had a chance to make it out. I think the death toll is going to end up way north of the current 76 people.

And the Chico Home Depot steps up with free sifters for those whom lost their homes. I'm so proud to work for this company! Heartfelt sadness for all those folks.

After a lot of disasters, people are anxious to get back to their routines. Imagine that you used to meet your friends religiously every month for 30 years and the fire happened. Pulled the rug right out from under you. How are your friends doing? Did everyone lose everything? I'm sure you would want to get right back to where you left off. It's life reaffirming. It's beating back the fires.
I know it's not the same thing, but DH's uncle who is 90 something, used to go have coffee with his friends every morning for like 40 years. The store shut down, people died. He was lost for a long time after that. It was part of his routine and his social network.
I think these people in the rock club are anxious to get on with life.

Paradise was nice area, more of a community than a town. My wife lived there for a number of years and her Mother lived there for a long time. I feel for the people who lost their lives and those who got burnt out, but when you live in amongst the trees you have to accept the danger. A friend of ours tried to get a tree cut down on her property and the "city" would not let her. The house is now gone, glad she was not still alive when it burnt. I am glad the fire is contained, but now they have to deal with the mud slides. flash flood warning for there yesterday.

It's heart breaking. Look around you and mentally calculate how far reaching 14,000 burned homes would be. I can't even wrap my mind around it.

Let's all hope and pray the insurance companies ALL do the right thing and take care of these folks per their agreements.
Has to be a billion dollars in exposure for them.
