So now you're admitting to heating and treating this piece - as well as dyeing?

So now you're admitting to heating and treating this piece - as well as dyeing? Is there a term for un-treating + un-dyeing?

So now you're admitting to heating and treating this piece - as well as dyeing? Well... heating with VOC was to maybe 40°C. Much more than that, and I'd be gassing it.

Strange thing is, I cannot recall hearing of gem report flags or discussions concerning disclosure of widespread removal of natural stains (such as iron oxide staining using oxalic acid or similar), let alone artificial stains. Some of this happens on industrial scales in material from various regions. Yet when someone zaps a bit of rust or carbon in a topaz, diamond, etc., it is very clear that disclosure is needed. Probably shouldn't matter if it didn't alter or disguise the original appearance, stability, permanence, color, make-up or other characteristics.

Ha, metalsmith, that'll teach you make a smart-aleckey remark. You could just get a real discussion going.
