Hello!
my lortone won't spin with both barrels on it! If I put one barrel one it's fine, but once the second one goes on it stops.
The last several weeks it's been rolling with both but very slowly.
I have another 33B that is spinning perfectly.
Any ideas?

It had a belt burnout a few months ago and I changed the belt. It's still fairly taught and with no barrels on it, spins perfectly

When the barrels stop is the driven shaft still spinning or is it stopped. If the shaft is stopped and your belt has proper tension then I would start be thoroughly cleaning and re-oiling the bushings. Hate to say it but these motors do wear out. I have had one that just kept getting slower. Never died completely but just got slow.
Possible causes 1) Is the barrel losing grip on the shaft? The shaft will be spinning but barrel not rolling. 2) belt too tight? belt too loose? Belt stretched beyond its limits? Too tight labors the motor and too loose will slip. 3) bushings full of gunk 4) motor fatigued

thanks for the reply- when I put the second barrel on the shafts, they stop turning. The belt seems fine to me tension wise.
I will take it all apart and look for some gunk!
Thank you!

I had the same problem with my CE tumbler. Cleaned all gunk off, put new oil on and it helped a little. Belt was fine. Then lightened the load and it has worked fine since. Apparently I had too much weight in the barrels.

My 33b does the exact same thing the bushings need cleaned up.

I take it apart and use a de-greaser spray. If you have latex gloves wear them, it's a mess. Lots of paper towels too.

Not very mechanically inclined myself Just out of curiosity, are you oiling the bearings? If they are anything like my larger Lortones, all you'll need to do is remove the "C" clips and pull out the shaft. Depending on the design, you might have to remove a pulley so the shaft can be completely removed. Since you'll have the shafts out, take a look at the bearings and make sure they are smooth and still intact. If they are not, consider replacing them.

Yes, if you see wear in the bushings/bearings replace them. I go through a set just about every 3 years with mine running 8-9 months out of the year.
I do oil mine (not much) just a drop every few months.

Replying here for anyone that happens to find this from googling-
Took the top and bottom plates off and cleaned it all out- lotta gunk! A new belt, some oil on the shafts and she's purring like a kitten again.
A little tune up is all it needed!
