Slabbed this rock thinking it was Silver Lace by the look of the rind. Came out like this, and neither one of us here have seen any like it. Any info or suggestions about what it's called or where it might be from would be greatly appreciated. It's 5-1/2" x 3-1/2".

Several years ago I picked an estate that had several crates of silver lace, some of it did go from the classic black and white to brown onyx, some of it was just brown onyx. The gentleman said that in one part of the vein the silver lace turned into a honey/brown onyx. I have never been there, going off his words. If you ever find yourself in the SE valley, stop by a take a look.

Good to know about the variations to the classic silver lace. Have never had - or seen - enough of it to know much about it.
This piece could have been collected or traded for any time during the last 40 years. No telling where it came from... .
Thanks for the info and the invite.

Thanks. Just noticed I forgot to put a scale in the photo. The slab is 5-1/2" x 3-1/2".

This piece tried to exit the program by falling off a slab while still on the saw. Thought I'd see what could be salvaged from it. As it is here it's 54x34 mm, but will need a re-size to get rid of a hidden crack that develope down in the right side.
At least it shows how the color contrasts will work with this stuff.

Nice! Definitely silver lace "onyx!" Looks brecciated. Love it. Nice cab, too.

Nice - that slab should make some more sweet cabs.
