Are you headed to Texas ? Right now I am pushing a trip to Falcon Lake in February. I am figuring I can fill a few buckets in a couple of days if I can find a couple of decent areas. The lake is usually low in winter but the section of the shore that gets covered with water during high water season is coated with a white alkaline ? coating. Make collecting on that wide section of exposed shore difficult. But the small section of shore that is wet helps see past the coating but it is a narrow band of shore. The high water sections are dry and have no coating but they have been picked over more so. If you can find one of the small gravel quarries open and get permission you have a gold mine.

If my contact out there will let me I may go this winter. It would be best if captbob went too since he and our collecting styles are similar. I believe he has more energy. Plus he was fun to watch - like a kid in a candy jar. I don't worry about the dangers. The crime rate is 100's of times worse here in S Atlanta. The only difference is that abductions related to the drug industry made into a big drama by the press. I only know of 3 incidences over a 10 year period around Lake Falcon. The town to stay away from in that area is Laredo.Me and Bob were well behaved married men. But did admire the scenery. Dark hair and dark eyes, purdy folks out that way. We had to collect rocks with a pure mind of course.

Who'd a ever thunk it?
Hope your TX agate hunting trip comes to fruition.
