I am not aware of a ceramic media that is a neutral carrier. Ceramic media either polishes, cuts lightly or cuts fast. Some of the fast cutting ceramic media has silicon carbide imbedded in it. Hmm interesting, the ceramics from TRS say they're non-abrasive, I couldn't think of the word vs neutral. I'd guess these are two different "ceramics" then? Thanks -Sean
The polish process is often referred to as a non-abrasive process. Yes the term neutral carrier is fair enough. Keep in mind if you add new un-tumbled TRS ceramics to a load of polished rocks they will remove the polish initially in a hurry. Best if you tumble them first and remove the burrs or they will scratch your rocks in later finish stages. But this conversation is moot in what I want to accomplish. I want to run 3 grades of ceramics to polish soft stones in a vibe. Just like the soft alloy wheel was polished above or many other metal parts that are polished w/ceramic media. Goal is locating 500 grit, 1000 grit and polish ceramics to arrive at a polish on soft stones like fluorite, calcite and similar.
