Hello, just found this forum and really excited about learning a few things about this hobby.
im a retired Navy Chief, living near Tacoma and began picking agates, jaspers and other stones off the beaches and some rivers. So, about a year ago, I bought my first rotary tumbler, got impatient, and went and bought a double. Not satisfied, I bought another Lortone rotary and have been hooked ever since. Then bought a vibratory tumbler, yet to be broken in, lol!
i loved rock collecting when I was kid but the opportunities of finding interesting rocks was challenging in North Central Texas. Now, almost 60, discovered the wealth of rocks and minerals in the Pacific Northwest. I have found fossils, petrified wood, agates, carnelians, jaspers, jadeite and a few opals.
During my my time in the Navy, I collected rocks and minerals in my travels. I had accumulated quite a collection over the years. Traveling across the country, I stopped at every rock shop I saw, lol! Now, I am cutting a few of them to tumble. Amazed with some of my earlier attempts, wanting hear from others their tricks and tips.
My Mom always said that the good Lord puts people in our path for a reason, we just have to figure out why. Same thing with this forum, think I found it for a reason.
So hello, and look forward to being part of this forum.
Sincerely, Bruce

Welcome Bruce....From another USN vet (CV-63) in Michigan. Probably collected many of the same type specimens as you while stationed at Bremerton and living in Silverdale in the 1980's. Beautiful place to be.
