As I learn how to make videos I'm focusing especially on precious opal. Getting opals to "perform" for the camera is a big challenge and I'm finding video may be the best way to let them show their true colors.
This is a dark crystal opal from Lightning Ridge, Australia, I cut a couple of years ago. It's been out of the ground long enough to prove it's a healthy opal. It's an especially bright stone with mainly green play of color with hints of blue. The potch color is an N5, using the Lightning Ridge grading system. Hope you enjoy seeing it.

THAT is beautiful! It's so bright and intense. I love how the blue floats.

Wow! Nice (pricey) stone you've got there! I was in a jewelry store in Brisbane that was loaded with opal, and I walked directly to a stone that looked like yours. The store attendant said something like, "You've got good taste. That's the most expensive stone in the store!"

Oh yeah, that's a beauty!
You're getting pretty good at those opal videos. You should get one of those little rotating platforms that you can stage the stone on and video it as it's turning.

You're getting pretty good at those opal videos. You should get one of those little rotating platforms that you can stage the stone on and video it as it's turning. I have one and use it occasionally. But to show stones from all angles, especially the backs, he method I used is he best I've come up with so far. Any other suggestions? I'm always looking for ways to improve.
