A month ago I had only heard of cabochons and really had no idea how they were made. While driving with wife we passed a rock shop and she said let’s go in and look around. She was impressed with the pendants with the pretty stones and said “could you make me some of those”. My reply was if I had the equipment to do it I suppose I could. She looked up you tube making cabochons and made me watch. Yesterday my 6 inch CabKing arrived. Drop pot and wax showed up this morning. I had picked up a few cheap slabs for practice out of the $3.00 bin. I have no idea what the stone is, none were marked. Remaining piece is what the cab is sitting on. It was a real learning experience this morning. There are a couple small scratches that I did not see until I had it off the stick and under the lit magnifying glass I will put it back on the stick this after noon and go after the scratches. All comments and criticism welcome. I can’t learn without guidance. Thanks for looking.
Gary
well, I cannot figure out how to upload a picture. I’ll do some searching and see what I can come up with. I am not the most confuser literate person.

Welcome aboard. Can't wait to see what you've made. People here are quite helpful and friendly. We'll have you uploading pics and cabbing like an expert in no time.
For my pictures, I'm currently using Flickr, but in the process of deciding whether or not I will stay with them.

I opened cloudinary account and uploaded picture to cloudinary, won’t let me download it to here. Tried Flickr, same issues. I’m going back to shop and play with new CabKing.

Gary, I opened my cloudinary account last week and it works great. If you follow the tutorial you'll be fine. I'm dumb as a rock with computers AND blonde. Keep trying. I'm also new to cabbing and didn't know what a cabochon was a few months ago. I have the CabKing 6 too and absolutely love it. I wish I had been active on this forum a few months ago, I made an account but forgot about it until just about a week ago. You'll get great answers from the peeps here.

Welcome Gary, from Northern Arizona!
Here's the link to the Cloudinary tutorial. If you follow each step exactly, you will love it. Takes a little while to get through all the steps, but works a treat:

You don't have to upload to cloudinary first. Once you are set up you can use the click the upload button on the top right when you are writing a post and then the upload file window will appear. Then just drag and drop.

Good luck with uploading photos. I followed Tommy's tutorial (with some help from the Cloudinary folks) and I got it done in a few hours. Note that there are some operating systems that don't "like" Cloudinary (this may be outdated news by now). I use Windows 10 and it works fine with that OS. The Cloudinary people were really nice to work with.
You're going to love this forum, and your new CabKing!

One thing I learned about Flickr is that you can’t just copy the link. You need to copy the “BBCode” from the “share” arrow (the curving one), and the paste it. I had to ask one of our members about that myself.
