Superglue on a nail. Started doing it at the clubhouse when the cold weather was making the dop wax fail. I liked it, so I never bothered getting wax or a pot. I generally remove with acetone. I’m nervous about heating rocks, even indirectly (color change, cracking...)
When I was dropping, I did use both nails and dowels with the wax I did not really notice a difference between the two.

Superglue will begin to deteriorate with heat way before a rock starts to get hot. The only stone I had trouble with heat was a stabilised turquoise, that broke.
