Well if that high grading rock hounder pulled that off I say: let him keep his purple rocks ! Supposedly the mine is only accessible by helicopter At least that how they like to advertise it So he was real committed to hiking As side note Brian I went back to the Papago on Sunday After you pointed out the giraffe I had to go up to the tomb with binocular And I almost saw the lion This is picture from about 10 years ago Ms Lioness and Mr. Lion were back in the corner I was out on the rail- pretty much by myself After standing there a bit Ms Lioness came out and laid in the sun About 2 minutes later I see Mr. Lion come hulking out He had his eye on me Kind of uncomfortable feeling! He lumbers up to Ms Lioness & they start wrestling ! It was wild! Jealousy ! \ O and the Superstition on Sunday really stood out! Thanks for posting !

I saw this on the news in the last week or so. That Four Peaks is really high dollar. The top does have red flash.

Since this occurred back in August, the only way MCSO will find them is if someone opens their mouth. Leads have probably been exhausted by now. FWIW, I found a description of the mine which indicated it was accessible via a two-hour ATV trip and two hour hike. The helicopter tour looks interesting, but it's pretty pricey at $495 per person. Supposedly sells out every year.

Yep
There are a lot of You Tube video's perhaps the mine is advertising too much? making it more accessible to
the mine used to be a fairly well kept secret...

It's actually a pretty easy hike to get there, from the parking lot it is about 2 hour walk. The mug shot looks like it was taken in the parking lot, I think it showed a picture of his truck.

interesting AzRockGeekI'm wondering if these hikers just happened to stumbled upon this mine and took a bucket of rocks? Or was it intentional to high grade some Amethyst ? If it the latter- then their rock thieves. Hope they get caught ! If its former...well then... they came into some killer rocks. If they know about the newscast they ought to give them up But keep a couple Happy New Year Tim! Ed I have to agree that the August angle is a head scratcher it was a mild summer nonetheless its brutal hot ha ! intentional or stumbled on?

I have to say, the suspect looked pretty happy at this truck. Considering they know make, model, partial license plate number and pic of the suspect (and he likes rocks), it is hard to believe they have not found him. Must be it the "look later" pile on law enforcement's desk.

If it happened in August why are they just now reporting this or I should say releasing to the public? Have they not been up there until now?
