Thanks to all of you, I appreciate the opportunity to represent RTH and this forum. It is truly humbling to compete against all of you like Drummond Island Rocks , Jugglerguy and all the rest of you that Blazed the Trail & have made this competition a tradition. You all are tough acts to follow, and I definitely had to muster all I had just to be on my "A GAME" in order to be able to compete. The Rhodonite proved to be both challenging and difficult to work with, as in my short time of tumbling I had not worked with this stone and didn't know what to expect. Much of the competition was the "LUCK of THE DRAW" in getting good material to work with. The competition with my wife started out more as a Joke, when I told MJ that I was entering a Rock Polishing competition I noticed she perked up and was looking over my shoulder, and Hanging around the lap shop a little more than usual. A week later Her stones came in the mail and it was ON! My understudy got some mighty good material and showed ole Duke where the bear craps in the woods I guess! Again I was Humbled. Lori Millard, Feather Rivers Club Coordinator got the story she told mixed up with another Bob, as I don't even own a Pickup Truck, and haven't been on vacation in over a year! Oh well anyways Thanks Again. Congratulations to you both! It was a job well done!!

Congratulations to the winners!
It interests me that the "old guard" seems to have abdicated the throne by not even entering because the stone is a tough one for sure.
Why avoid the challenge? Why not give it a go?

Hi, I’m Jim and I was fortunate to win the rock tumbling contest. I feel embarrassed that this is my first post on the forum although I’ve spent plenty of time learning from the experts here. I’ve been lurking without participating, mostly because I’m pretty much a beginner and didn’t feel confident to give advise. I built a rotary tumbler using a compilation of ideas found in the forum. Eventually last December I purchased a Lot O because I struggled getting a wet shine on anything but agates and jasper or tumbling obsidian without chips. The Lot O is pretty magnificent if you enjoy shiny rocks!
Thanks everyone!

No reason for embarrassment - we have many folks who lurk and learn and don't post much and that's perfectly normal and OK. We're happy to have you and thank you for the forum shout-out in your award acceptance paragraph. It was super exciting to learn this morning that our members, yourself along with TheRock and maryjane took the top three spots in the contest.

Why not give it a go? Care to clarify? I was under the impression that most of the past winners and placers entered and submitted rocks this year. Chuck

No problem at all. It is hard to keep up with all the posts for sure. I was actually thinking it would be fun to have a mock contest here on RTH. There is at least a month between the deadline to send in the rocks and the time the winners are announced. During that time if every RTH contest participant sent in 2 pictures of their submitted rocks to Tommy he could create an anonymous poll to be judged by our peers here at RTH. Plus I really want to see better photos of the top three finalists then what gets posted by the contest host. 2019 World Contest WinnersChuck
