hi all need tips on core drilling, I am using a 13mm core drill to make beads. I put dove soap and mineral oil in water but still have a hard time getting the core out of bit. any tips on making it easier to eject the core from bit would be appreciated. thanks joejan

I’ve never made beads. However, I’ve used core drills to make discs prior to cabbing.
Hold the slab/rock down. In water. Gently bounce the drill. When done the core just needs to be freed from the bottom of the container. Should add that I used thermoplastic stuff to hold it down.
I have a video tute on here I made several years ago.
Purpose was to free up my hands. Had to hold slab down and bounce the drill. Good luck.

Sometimes heating the bit allows the stone to fall out. If the bit gets hot during drilling, it can clamp down on the core when it cools.
Would be a shame to lose the bit, or damage it. I suppose you could superglue a nail head to the bottom of a stuck core and, once set, try to pull it out. I also noticed that some don't drill all the way through the slab before pulling out the bit. They then use a small chisel to pry the core (still attached to the slab) and break it from the slab. There are probably other techniques, too.
