So with 4 barrels running course I'm finally getting a decent bowlful ready to move to stage 2. Of course I have to put a picture... Anyway, I was just wondering if I need to run a burnish stage before I get them going since they've been sitting in water since I pulled them out. Thanks

Some nice looking pieces there! I wouldn't think you would need to run a burnishing stage just because they've bee sitting in water for a while. The only time I have been doing one mid tumble is in between when I switch from 120/220 SiC grit in the rotary to AO grit in the vibe. I don't do them between grits of the same material. I do run a final burnishing step after the polish with borax/Ivory soap.
That being said, I can't see where there is any harm in running a burnishing step at any time in the process ....

Thanks, most of them will be pretty good I think. I haven't been tumbling long and the only two batches I've done to completion I did burnishing between each stage- which seemed to work out. There are many different ways to get to the same results I guess, thanks for the advice!
