Hehe. Hey I'm Tavin, from northern AZ. I collect rocks to a degree, but I'm tumbling ultra rare agatised deep sea Alaskan tree coral from fishing bycatch decades ago. So I'm here to learn and share.
P.s. I'm a commercial fisherman and son of a fisherman, so yeah, fishing!

Here's what it looked like at stage 2, I'm 6 days in on pre-polish, but I'm going for 9. I've learned from experience this particular agatised coral still draws up enough water to swell (microscopically) and soften, making it more pliable and slower to tumble. It took weeks on stage 1 before I realized I needed the ceramic cylinders. They changed the game for my tumble.

Welcome from Southern California. I love Northern AZ and hope to get there one day.
Stage 2 is pre-polish? Am I to assume there is no coarse grind for this material? Very neat looking stuff, BTW.
ETA: Just reread your post and figured it out.

Welcome, Tavin, from the Prescott area! Where are you from in northern AZ? I'm guessing you're not here anymore since you're a commercial fisherman.
Really cool looking coral you've got there. Please post more pics when its done tumbling.

Hey hummingbirdstones! I'm in Star Valley, next to Payson. I head up to Alaska seasonally. My next season usually starts between the first and third week of April, so I have some home time

Interesting. Resemble fins.
I bet you find lots of interesting things in the ocean.
