New member here, I have found my Grandfolks Smith Murray tumbler that I remember from my childhood, I would like to post pics and learn more about the model and how to go about restoring it back to use. Do you have to sign up for a cloud account to post pics from your phone? Thank you!

Looks good! Here is a couple more pics...the only thing that says “Scott Murray” is the belts... The barrel is red and the frame is blue. The tumbler frame has these built-in ports to oil the bearings...there are four hindged ports I am sentimental towards this old tumbler as a reminder of my Grandfolks who I find myself sharing many hobbies with later in life.... The motor smoked when I briefly plugged it in... The barrel lining is great and the belts look good, but I suspect I’ll have to take all the components apart, sand, paint, oil... I’m sure the motor could replaced too. I would like any advice anyone is kind enough to offer. I have not found this particular model or get idea of age in researching Scott Murray tumblers but we are in Western Wa so I wouldn’t be surprised. Thanks!

Wow, that's one huge and cool-looking toy! Welcome from me, too.

Welcome. The first thing I thought when I saw your picture was "that motor will need replacing", Probably a good thing too as it may have been dangerous if used.

Thank you for the welcome. I am a tile/stone installer and a good friend and mentor recently helped me replace a motor on my tile saw and I’m sure he would help me find a replacement motor. I can clean up the usable parts and with some luck restore this old tumbler. Many thanks for the help received.

Welcome from WI. I refurbished and am using my childhood tumbler from the 1970's as a supplement to my newer ones. So happy you want to restore this piece of your childhood. Please photos of the progress.
