Ok, I am going for it!! Attempting to tumble a very mixed bag of pre-forms and smalls. It includes Obsidian, Various Agates, Plume, Crazy Lace, etc, Scenic Jaspers, Rhodochrosite, Malachite, a piece of Lapis. Even threw in about 10 -12 small pieces of Fire Agate. Started them at 220 SiC in the 15 pound Rotary. Did not add the Lapis, Rhodochrosite and the Malachite until day 6, added 3 more tablespoons of 220 and then ran for 3 more days. It's in soap for 5 hours now and then going to 80AO. maybe run about 5-6 days and move to 500AO 5-6 days and then Polish. Might stay in the Rotary the whole way.
The 220 batch started with about 5 pounds of small Pea Gravel and trimmings and maybe 2 pounds of dried tumble slurry. I don't expect everything to come out with a high polish, just hoping everything survives. So far so good.
Wish me luck.
Henry

They look great so far. Never knew you were as much of a rebel as I am, lol. Be patient, check often and all should be fine.

Looking forward to seeing them finished.

VERY NICE! Is that heart shape bone? It's really killer! Yes, the bone is heart shaped. I also added the Tiffney Stones at the 6 day mark, noticed one of them was already deformed. Suppose if it had such a soft spot it would not have not worked doing a normal Cab. My goal is to take some better pictures of the polished(almost polished) stones in about 2 and half weeks.

That dino bone heart is awesome. That one would make me nervous in the tumbler. Fingers crossed for ya.

Awesome choice..... never had any luck tumbling Dino bone.... Have fun, good luck.. Fossilman, Is that true with dino-bone in a Lot-O also? If I find some dino-bone I am going to going to give it a shot. Cleaned out the tumbler today. Everything looked ok with no obvious breaks or "melt-aways" by any of the softer high end material. The Dino Bones did seem to be undercutting a bit. Loaded the tumbler for the 500 AO run and added about 2 to 3 cups of still wet 500 AO slurry. Did not take any pictures, nothing to see, plus it was cold(for this Gulf Coast boy) wet with wind. It was a character builder washing the load off out on the driveway.

Beautiful, what does their future hold? Hopefully nicely polished preforms in about 10 days. Would not expect some of the softer material to take a high polish so I may have to see about finishing them on diamond belts?

Where did you get the Malachite?

Where did you get the Malachite? They were in a box of small slabs of higher end material one of my old rockhound friends gave me. He also sold me large piece that I have yet to start cutting. Wanted to run the first few small pieces through the tumble process before I started taking some slabs off of it.
