Glass must be run 8 to 10 days in (my) rotary with SiC 500 before it will take a polish in the vibe. Done this like 30 times. Guessing breakdown is 3 times faster, say 3 or 4 days in vibe. Why, just curious. And need to know, got about 10 loads of coarse shaped glass ready for SiC 500 step.
To find out, a couple of pieces of glass will be removed from vibe in SiC 500 at day 2, day 3 and day 4. And each pair tagged as to it's run time. Then each pair will be put back for final 2 vibe steps and inspected for polish quality.
Day 2, 10 tablespoons of sugar syrup slurry and 2 tablespoons SiC 500. 6 pounds glass and 2 pounds pea quartz media.

After 2 days in the vibe the SiC 500 had about the same effect as 8 to 10 days in the rotary. No samples were pulled after 1 day. It is possible that 1 day would have been long enough. A rotary uses about 10 times the dose of a vibe. Maybe the vibe breaks grit down 10 times faster. In this case 4 to 5 times faster. Surface finish was tested with the reflection of an incandescent filament at a steep angle: Thin edges free of frosting/bruising: So this shortened the recipe for glass. 7 days SiC 60 in rotary clay(pre-shaped or shards) 2 days SiC 500 in vibe sugar 4 days AO 220 in vibe sugar 2 days AO 14,000 in vibe sugar

Sweet information! Thanks for sharing. I can see all kinds of arts & crafts applications for nice looking glass like that!

Trying a shorter version.
So this shortened the recipe for glass doing SiC 500
7 days SiC 60 in rotary clay(pre-shaped or shards) 2 days SiC 500 in vibe sugar 4 days AO 220 in vibe sugar 2 days AO 14,000 in vibe sugar
Total run time 15 days. 7 days in rotary. 8 days in vibe.
The next recipe will involve the backward step going from SiC 500 to AO 220. Instead, the AO 220 will be replaced with hopefully 2 days with AO 500.
7 days SiC 60 in rotary clay(pre-shaped or shards) 2 days SiC 500 in vibe sugar(maybe 3 days if going straight to AO 500 instead of AO 220) 2 days AO 500 in vibe sugar 2 days AO 14,000 in vibe sugar
Total run time 13 days. 7 days in rotary, 6 days in vibe.
