Picked up about 80 pounds of it last year. Finally cut a couple slabs from it. Seller could not remember the name. Anybody? DSC_0318 by Findrocks, on Flickr

No help with the id, sorry. Maybe if you sent me 60 pounds or so to hold I could figure it out. It's gorgeous.

Almost looks like Brazilian Agate. The areas outside of the agate lines do not look Brazilian to me. Hope someone else will chime in here.

That would have been my guess, except the outside rind does not fit Laguna that I am familiar with. All of pieces have the same coloration with the agate making up about 25 to 40 % of each piece. Polishing the piece I cut the two slabs from on the Vib Lap. It won't be ready until sometime next week as I have the Clear Lake Gem and Mineral Show this weekend with setup on Friday. Henry

I immediately thought Mexican agate also and Janos certainly fits with the reddish orange matrix. Janos agate is actuallly a thunder egg and the matrix was traditionally hammered ...or cobbled off to make the agate more valuable...according to what I read. Credit to The Gem Shop. Mexico has some beautiful material, no doubt!

That is Janos Agate Mexico. Thank you, after googling Janos Agate,, I found lot's of images that show the same material. One write up I saw said that the agate is actually from a Thunderegg were a lot the outside rind has been broken away by hand to expose the agate. That does seem to account for the irregular shapes of the rough I have.

Yep, Janos agate out of Mexico. The T-eggs have a huge amount of matrix and a nice but often small or narrow banded agate center so dealers often chip off most of the matrix. Otherwise a buyer would be paying a per pound cost for mainly matrix. Guy at Quartzite one year was trying to sell the unchipped t-eggs for like $5.00/ pound. Whole nodules were like 10 pounds plus in size. No one buying them much at that price.....Mel
