Received this from drocknut. Has been in since early January. Estimated Mohs of 6 to 6.5, maybe less, as lost 1/2 of size. I shaped the edges with Dremel before tumbling. Skipped rough stage, due to hardness. I am very pleased at how it is turning out. Now in final Borax cleaning. Lots of gloss. Does anyone have an ID? Thank you.

That's really nice- can't say what it is, but I like it.

I love it. Knew it was soft, so babied it while tumbling. It was in a batch of softer stones in my 1 lb. barrel. Final polish was 60% tumbling pellets and 40% cabs/fossis.
Some of the tumbling caused one side to no longer be even with the other.

Of course I don't know what it is, but I do know that I love the banding! Nice one.

That looks like a piece of Wave Dolomite. Since you said it was soft I'm almost sure that's what it is.

I am amazed that I could have transformed a piece of this so much with a Dremel and Rotary tumbler. Very tough material to work with. But I did baby everything in this tumble. Was run in 60% pre polished pea gravel and plastic pellets with 14,000 AO polish for 3 weeks in my childhood 1 lb. barrel. The other rocks/fossils were Petoskey, Turitella, unknown fossils. A couple other one cab wonders from you. Thank you for the ID.
