KOG is Kute Old Guy, my hiking trail blaze...
Been tumbling rocks since my kid's old tumbler fell off the garage shelf banging my brain this past December...
It had some rocks in it and some grit so I plugged the 30+ year old machine in and came out with some decent shiney's which the Little People (LP's / Grandkids) liked and promptly lost...
Just been looking around at landscape rock pikes, found a bunch of Kool looking ones which are now tumbled - but only Shown to the LP's...
Found some flat rocks (sediment) in those gravel piles, Dremel shined them, drilled a hole in, threaded a chain through, took them to the LP's, they hung them around their necks...
Then finally asked me what kinds of rocks...
COPROLITE,! I exclaimed! They wore them until my oldest Mr. Googled it, announcing, "Grandpa,! That's Dinosaur Poop!"
That was three weeks ago and I haven't seen those necklaces since!
So... I'm just here to learn, wonder, and get jealous...
Live in Southwestern Pennsylvania surrounded by shale and sediment... Hardened mud... But, I do get out and around and maybe y'all will clue me in where I can find some purties...
First rocks I bought are the Mexico Fire rocks... Two pounds of them... After 6 weeks in #1 grit and ceramic beads - nothing... Nothing at all! Nothing except some dwindling white stuff that apparently hides the fire...
That's Kool too, though!

This newbie sends you greetings from just west of the great Mother Lode of the Northern California Sierra Nevada mountains (aka Sacramento)!
