As Winter sets in, Gooses nightly honk,"Outa my way, Dobie,!" (A Gooses imitation of Crocodile Dundee) And "stuff starts putting itself on my garage work table...
Lots of stuff!
I pushed, shoved, knocked away and cleared a hole and set up my vibrator tumbler and the kid's 30+ year old rock tumbler... Started the rotary and been having a good old time!
Two days before I found this Wonderful Forum, I found some large yellow orange crystal looking purties in a neighbor's White River landscape rock piles...
Stole 'em! Right in front of his fancy video Catcha system!
Big rocks!
So, I dumped them in the vibrator and flipped the switch...
Uh Oh!
Forgot I'd dumped some aluminum oxide in there the last time I used it - at least 3 years ago...
Big Whoops! BIG!
Believe it or not, aluminum oxide degrades into a very fine, very sticky powder!
Next morning? Let's just say Big Powder Problem! BIG!
Looks like I'm even gonna paint the garage this Spring...
Big Whoops! BIG!
MORAL? Always empty da bucket before ya plop things in and flip da switch!
Big Whoops! BIG!

Thanks!
At my "age," (which I claim is 20), I've found that sitting down and laughing is far better to get the repairs going than just crying...
PS: Everytime my oldest granddaughter hears me saying, "I'm 20," she jumps up and shouts so Everyone can hear: "Yeah, right, Grandpa... You're only 50 years over 20..."
FOR SALE: One Granddaughter... Slightly used...

More repairs made after the Big Whoops... Took the oldest rotary totally apart, cleaned all the powder out, replaced the vinyl coverings on the spindles, reset the drive belt...
While apart, I looked at the Mexican Fire Rocks - getting there...
Buttoned back up, turned back on...
And, now I settle back with my oldest and most favorite hobby: pull up a chair and watch the laundry tumble dry... Kinda wish I had a window in the rock barrels... Give me a second channel to flip to!
Oh... And somebody on some thread I was checking out mentioned using clay... Got me to thinking: "maybe that's a way I can get rid of this yellow clay I try to garden through!". So, I dug up some, put a global in with the Fire Rocks - and - I do believe that's what finally has them going and getting smaller and smoother!
I figure in about a hundred thousand and twelve years I'll finally replace the yellow clay in one of my growing beds!
Oh, this is fun! 🐵

All you need to address the abundance of clay problem is a larger tumbler. ;-)

All you need to address the abundance of clay problem is a larger tumbler. ;-) I've got 2 acres here in wwhich I try to grow "purties..." Underneath those is yellow clay - goes down forever... How big a tumbler do you recommend? Ha! Big tumbler... I like that!

I am Pleased to find that the Big Whoops was not caused by Pilot Error!
We're talking "equipment fatigue" here, sadly...
The Vibe's drum is plastic - probably some of those plastic shopping bags we ship over to China which is where this Vibe was made - Harbor Freight... El Cheapo...
Inside the drum is a high collar that, looks like, helps things bounce and turn...
Wore holes through it... Powder-fried #1 grit flew through!
Took it apart today finding the "cause..."
If ya got a Harbor Freight Vibe tumbler - watch it and don't put grit in it!
In other news: Got a Tex from my Buddy Robin (himself the thief of my compost worms... "Ain't gonna bother coming up this year," he Texas... "Ain't never gonna warm up there!"
Back to watching the clothes Tumble Dry... (I need a life!)
