Given to me by a friend (gosh, thanks. No, really) a while back, in a mix of tumbled, low grade rose quartz, a few low grade carnelian-colored pieces, some blue, lots of (sorta) clear quartz. (I put it in a vase to add some color for a decorative piece to be auctioned for a fundraiser.) Came from a mostly-touristy rock shop. Hardness seems to be a 6 from my cheepo hardness kit. In quick searches, have seen a few images calling similar looking stuff amazonite, prehnite, nephrite (skeptical on this one) but you know how the interwebs can get stuff wrong. There is amazonite around here, but the only samples I've actually seen look nothing like this. (Based on what it was mixed with, I doubt it came from around here, though.) ETA: Color ranges from slightly darker (see upper right of first photo) to very light. Any help appreciated; I'd like to be able to identify it in a little blurb written for the auction. Don't know the first thing about aventurine, but had eliminated it as a possibility because it's hardness is listed as 6.5-7. This stuff scratches fairly easily with a black steel screw.

Scratches easily with a steel screw.
A very pale Serpentine? or Talc?
I have Prehnite very similar but it is harder.

Looks like aventurine, green quartz I've seen from a location on the Idaho/Utah border. I think the Rock Shed sells it as tumbling rough.

My guess is quartzite. Any mica flakes?

Break or saw one so you can see what the unpolished surface looks like. Does it have a grain (quartzite) or some larger crystals (other quartz)? Polished stones are difficult to id unless they are so characteristic that they scream at you.
