Hi all Oddly, similar to aDave, I have been planning a trip to Oregon, too. I have been trying to go to Texas, but by the time I can go it's going to be too hot. I want to go to the Prineville and Madras shows this year. I was born in Oregon and took the family back many years ago, then I went rockhounding with my friend Frank on the Idaho border areas a few years back, but I've never gone to the big shows. So, of course, my questions are about the field trips. Prineville lists some on their website (Richardson's, Ochoco , McDonald Ranch), but is that acccurate? I ask because their Facebook page has posts by people from last years trips, but no info I can see on this year by the club, so it makes me wonder. As for Madras, they do not list anything specific, and, I know they may give out that info later, but does anyone know where they have gone in previous years? At least that way I would have an idea. Thanks for any help anyone can give. Craig

The Madras show stopped announcing the sites until the last minute, probably wanting to be sure. Richardson's has been on the digs for both shows the past few years, and they usually open up the old Plume bed and one or two other old beds that are normally off-limits just for the shows' field trip digs. In the past, Madras has also included Marston Ranch for wood replacement agate. Prineville had Teeter Ranch one year and one of the thunderegg beds east of town. Can't recall all of them. Both of the sites I linked let you send emails. Not sure that they would commit definitely this early in the Spring.

Thanks for the tag Craig socalagatehound. We are planning our trip for the beginning of next month. I've updated my thread with that info. Have fun if you end up there. Dave
