I photographed and listed 15 cabs. I'm happy with the photographs. I managed to keep my hands from shaking when I pressed the shudder. I'm into etsy for $3 and my time. I'll move on to creating and fixing cabs. Your site looks great and the cabs and images are very good. Maybe you're joking about keeping your hands from shaking but if not, check your camera manual for its self-timer options. My Nikon gives me the options of 10 or 3 second delays after pressing the shutter. I find 3 seconds is usually plenty of time for the camera to stop any shake caused by pressing the shutter button.

I learned a few thing. My pictures were out of focus because of hand movement. Low light conditions mean a slower shutter speed. Once I realized that it wasn't the distance from the lens to the object causing the out of focus condition. I don't hunt or shoot guns but the idea of calming before pushing the shutter button helps. The other thing is that I get good natural indirect light in late morning and early afternoon where I sit. I n3eed to take pictures then.

Your shop looks great. It will evolve and change as your skills get honed. Congratulations on taking the leap. Best luck with it and above all, enjoy yourself!

I sold my first cab; a flat top OJ. I decided that I needed to get some feedback so I listed 8 cabs at $20 with free shipping. I don't have an inventory issue. The first 15 I listed averaged over $50 and discounting is a slippery slope.
I decided to be optimistic and bought some inexpensive gift boxes on Amazon before the cab was sold.

[quote author="Don " source="/post/1046825/thread" timestamp="1554755923 Photography is such a pain. And no matter how many pictures I have of something, someone will ask if I have another pic because the other 10 just aren't good enough. [/quote][/p] That's why I'm less and less inclined to maintain my website. I don't mind doing initial photographs and videos and working hard to portray stones accurately. But having endless requests for more and more images takes time I don't have and is a major PITA -- especially when I send the images and never hear another word from that person, not even a "thank you for your trouble."

I sold my first big order today; a Morrisonite and a Willow Creek. The Morrisonite sold within a few hours of being listed. I sold it for $70 including shipping and the same person also bought my Willow Creek pelican. It's a nice cab and I knew I sold it a little low. I'm feeling my way and will adjust prices on new listings according to reaction.

I have more than 10 years of part time created inventory and 15 years of buying cabbing material. 20% is sellable as nice cabs. I have a lot less cabbing material than I started with but enough to keep me busy for a while.

I sent out my first 5 orders today. I have 27 active listings and won't list anymore until feedback arrives. I manually shipped. I insured at a cost of $2.80 an order. The math dictates not insuring and will likely stop for most orders.
I expected the photography to be the biggest issue but lucked into a natural set up. The biggest issue is pricing. Some items are easy to slot and I am not interested in undercutting anyone's prices. Some items are difficult to find comparable prices. I'll learn from experience.
