Looking for suggestions......if anyone has one. Tough to find deals out here in Georgia.

Not very helpful, but in my opinion - the best saw is the one you own. ;-) Good luck with your search. Large saws are almost never cheap. I have been looking in my area for something in decent shape for a few years.

I've got a 10" Raytech and an 18" HP. Wanting something in between as I'm working my little raytech a bit tough.

If you stumble across one, the old LS-14 drop saws work okay. They're a bit loud and messy, but if you have a place to set it up where that wouldn't be a huge problem it's a good option. I got a plastic washing machine pan to put under ours, and rigged cut-off shower curtains on PVC pipe to contain the spray.
I really like the vise because it's vertical. Two pieces of vertical all-thread, with the vise plate tightening down from the top. It makes it easier to wedge odd shaped rocks in tightly with pieces of wood. Since there's something on all four sides, I can secure rough chunks that would never work in a standard slab saw vise/carriage setup.

I like the Barranca Diamond 14" saws but you dont see them very often and of course the Frantoms are Work horses if you can find one.

Barranca HP14 is really built tough although price new is not cheap. Much heavier metal than the Panther so higher to ship at 230 lbs crated.

Both of my Highland park 14 inch saws are workhorses. They are running as I type. Original HP, of course, not the new chinese garbage.
