Not a rocktumbler yet, but a rockhound for sure. I cant go anywhere without looking at the ground for rocks, no matter where. When I'm driving I'm constantly looking at roadcuts instead of the road. But I'm new to all of it. Plus I'm having a hard time learning, since I know nobody that knows anything about rocks!! If I ask people where I live they just say any smooth rock is flint!!!!! They look at me like I'm crazy if I say words like chalcedony, geodes, agate, even quartz. So I need all the help I can get

Welcome Jenn! Not many rocks or rockhounds here in the panhandle of Florida either. But we do take trips to rockhound and see the rock shows. We have a trip planned next month to Franklin, TN. If you ever have any questions just ask here....and have fun! Jeff A

Welcome from NW Ohio/SW Florida - two rock deserts, but plenty of fossils.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I also do quite a bit of 90KM/hr prospecting while driving by rock cuts. I always stop if I see calcite, vugs or serious faulting. Sometimes, there is info online about many of the cuts where others have found stuff if you Google the name of the nearby town and "mineral collecting" or other key words you can find spots worthwhile to check out. It is quite surprising that no matter how remote, someone has probably already been there and sometimes there are reports/pictures of what they found. Mindat.org is another good place to armchair prospect.

Greetings from Scotland, United Kingdom!
I currently have the following Lortone QT12/66 rotary tumbler, Lortone C300 rotary tumbler, 2x Viking Vibrasonic 2x 14lb and 2x 6lb hoppers (Diamond Pacific) (USA) vibrating tumblers, Hans lapidary 6 wheel rock grinder and polisher, 6 inch blade and wheel combo unit that is currently under redevelopment, with Silicon Carbide grit Fixed80, F220, F600, F1200, with Tin Oxide (1.0 micron) and Aluminum Oxide (0.3 micron) polishes.
