That fossil, that has three layers to it, looks like a "Didymoceras"… The upper half is missing... Photo - 3... I was leaning toward horn coral but it could be. If it is a didymoceras I have never found the like.

Lovely spot and rocks. Sounds like you are about to get some good exercise humping loads of interesting rock back to your truck. Sometimes the work is worth the effort.

I was stationed in Guam 1972-73 and the roads were asphalt mixed with crushed coral. After rain which was daily the roads were slippery. In northern MN when growing up we used to walk a couple of miles to play ball. We would pry lakers out of the asphalt when we seen them.

I still want to go local by me looking for rocks with you. My land or local gravel pits. I hope to get a dump truck load of driveway gravel. From past experience, the place I get it from has driveway/landscape gavel loaded with fossils and agates.

The gravel operations in Zapata along the Rio when in operation is the way to go @toiv. Many small private gravel pits. They run when projects are active. Many of the ranches have their own pits for their own roads. The pit best to be within 1/4 mile of river for best agate/wood density. Which ever pit the Zapata McDonalds orders their larger (3 to 6 inch)landscape bed gravel from. It was loaded with fine agates. Maybe they will bag you up a super sack and send it motor freight on a pallet for a sample.

For hauling rocks by foot over a distance, a couple people I know have inexpensive hand trucks with big inflatable tires that they bungee 5 gallon buckets to.
If I ever get to it, Imma build a foldable two-wheel cart with mountain bike wheels.

They don't look too hard to make something similar.

Seems they have been discontinued. They don't look too hard to make something similar. Probably just "discontinued" on Amazon - they are still around (see brolltools.com), along with one or two knock-offs. If you don't require round buckets, then might also find an acetylene tank cart with big diameter wheels that would work over rough, uneven ground (maybe like this one).
