I only got to spend a weekend in Amsterdam, which happened to coincide with the Euro 2000 soccer tournament. There was a match between the Netherlands and the Czech Republic in town. It was madness. I really enjoyed the Van Gogh museum and the people watching. I'm as interested in the differences in cultures as I am the sites and tourist attractions. BUT, I did get to ride the train from Brussels and back, so I saw the countryside through the glass. And the windmills. 😊

A large part of the Netherlands consists of drained marshes and what used to be the bottom of the sea (drained with a little help of those famous windmills in the past). So it's rare to find anything interesting; fossils and bits of jasper and agate in some parts of the country, if you're lucky. I certainly wouldn't go on a rock trip to the Netherlands if I lived in the U.S. - you'd be sorely disappointed, I'm afraid. I have a friend in the Netherlands - Erwin Denissen. He owns and operates www.youtube.com/channel/UCS9ckN_Ink5iObrepD8pbIg

I hadn't heard of him or this forum before, but that FontCreator is really interesting! So how did you meet your friend, via his forum?

I hadn't heard of him or this forum before, but that FontCreator is really interesting! So how did you meet your friend, via his forum? In 2004 i needed a specific font, but could not find anything that came close to my needs. I searched the web for a program that would allow me to create what I wanted. At that time "Font Creator" sold for around $25. Others were several hundred, I purchased and Joined Mon Feb 23, 2004 6:13 am.Erwin is a warm and helpful person (and TOP TALENTED PROGRAMMER!), and it became a mutual appreciation relationship. We traded a lot of helpful information back and forth. Another friend Erwin had previously acquired is Bhikkhu Pesala, an extremely talented Buddhist Monk in England. Over the years he has evolved into the top Font Program producing company in the world.

Proof once again of what a wonderful thing the internet can be: it can help you find great programs as well as great people! Amazing by the way how it's possible to create a font based on your own handwriting with this tool. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you both! Though to be honest this introductory post dates from almost a year back, it just got bumped up recently. :-) Welcome... I have a buddy that lives in the Netherlands, he comes over every summer and hounds thundereggs and sends them back to his country and Germany... Must be great to live in an area where one can find enough thundereggs to be able to send them back to the Netherlands AND Germany!
