Due to a recent injury and subsequent surgery, I'm unable to work my tumblers right now, but I did have a batch finish up recently, with the help of my youngest son. The irony is that now that I have the time to photograph some tumbles and share my work, it's pretty damn exhausting to do so. I did manage to get pics of a couple pieces I liked out of this bunch. Better yet, I have the before pics to see the comparison. First, a piece of Fourth of July agate I got in the first Travelling Rock Box I participated in. I left it alone for a year or more, but finally threw it in for a roll. It tumbled for months, I had no desire to keep track of how long.
This thing looks great in hand, the subtle white bands are hard to pick up in a photo. Also, the center is a sparkly druzy area. Very clean looking tumble.
The other one is a tile saw shaped tumble from a KY agate slab I got at a local rock show. I shared the pics of the slabettes a while back, but here is the finished tumble.
One of the difficulties of working with KY agate is the fractures. If this were a cab, destined for a fine piece of jewelry, it could have and would have been cut smaller, avoiding the fractures. This, however, will end up as a refrigerator magnet or a random tumble in a bowl, so I cut it big and let it ride.

Nice to see you photo again, and thanks for sharing. Beautiful material, and the photos do it well. Take care of that Achilles tendon repair.
ETA: Hope I didn't speak out of turn about what the injury was.

Great that your son helped you with the last batch. They look great, and I love the before and after pics! Wonderful tumble!

Really like the white on white subtlety of that first one.

Did this playing softball with a bunch of under 30's from work, stretching a single to a double. Felt like I got kicked in the back of the leg, performed a nice shoulder roll and hobbled the rest of the way, taking that double and knocking in the RBI. Never mind that we still got mercy ruled and I ended up with surgery. Here's what a total rupture of the Achilles looks like with MRI:

Yowsa! You sure know how to do some damage!
You need to stay away from the young folks, showing off will get you in trouble every time!
BTW, loved the kitty in the dog costume, lol! Yours?

Good Lord, Randy! That's awful. Looks and sounds really painful. Ow. The only good side, I guess, is you get to spend more time with us. Nice to see some of your famous photos and tumbles. That KY agate is amazing- fracture and all. No more weekend warrior!

Funny, this is very much known as the weekend warrior type injury.

Recuperation time! How long is that going to take? They hope to have me up, mobile and walking well in a few months. Could take a little longer. Definitely crimping my style. Not a sit around kind of guy.

Hope you heal up quicker than expected, Randy. Achilles injuries really suck. Do take it easy and let it heal, though. The worse thing you can do is push it and re-injure it. That would truly suck!
Love the KY agate! You take amazing photos.
