Was looking for a rotary tumbler to complement our current lineup of one 2 lb., two 3 lb. and one 15 lb. barrel. We decided to go with a Lortone QT66. This was with a little hesitation as there seems to be more than a few people here that have experienced issues with Lortones (weak motors seem to be a common complaint), though there are probably even more that say their blue machines have never given them any trouble. I guess we'll find out for ourselves. All of our other units (including the vibe) are Thumler's, with the exception of the 2 lb. unit, and have worked flawlessly. The two pounder was the first we got and it is the "National Geographic Professional" and to be honest does just as good a job as any other we have. The barrel is a Lortone knockoff and the unit itself has conveniences our others do not have- speed control, on/off switch. It is just pretty small.
Thumler's has some units between the AR-2 and Model B but they do not seem to be very popular/available. Figured we would give the Lortone a shot and if it doesn't work out we are already talking about building our own tumbler to fit our basement setup.

I have 2 Thumlers and 3 Lortones and they are both doing just fine. Zero problems with either one.

Good choice with the QT66. I like mine as 6-pound barrel cleanouts are pretty manageable. I wouldn't let the motor issues worry you. Sure, some might not be that good, but I'd have to think they're an anomaly. I've always been one to believe that one will see more negatives than positives about anything on the internet. It's just the nature of the beast.

As much as we love ours, we really did not want to get another Model B as those fifteen pounders are a whole lot of work cleaning them out. Thinking the six pounders will be perfect for us at this stage of the game. Al
