I'll have to let one dry tonight and see what it looks like and get a picture for comparison. It feels like glass though, I started with a higher grit because they were rounded from the lakes. Rough grit for the carnelian.

Yes, the double 3 lb lortone version. One barrel of petoskey and the other of carnelian. Thanks, I was expecting bad and went better than I thought.

Seriously, one week? That's amazing, I have stuff that's been tumbling for months that isn't even close. Rotary or vibe? Nice work, regardless!

Thank You! Lortone rotary. Haven't tried the vibe yet, need to accumulate some rotary shaped rough to throw in. Thinking of trying an initial petoskey batch in the vibrator one though..
I tried copying a recipe but forgot to halve the water, so whatever I was trying to duplicate I had used double the recommended water. So I'm continuing that way for now.

Haha I suppose so! Price difference between that and a 40lb? Wasn't much so I figured to go all out.
I'll see how it goes in a couple of weeks! Once I get it I'll attempt a similar small rough load ramped up to the large one and let it go for 1 week and check it out.
I'm happy with just the initial grinding/shaping/smoothing with even the rough grit. It'll be better shiny, but I'll get there later on. Lots to Do!

Yes they are wet, they don't have that shine dried out, but it knocked all that brown away and got pretty smooth.

Dry one - 60/90 grit so shouldn't have a shine yet, first stage of the first tumble is all and already impressed with it.

First vibrating tumbler attempt tonight...more worried about this one. How much to put in and sizes. Thinking I did too many larger ones, little lost. Tossed in some rocks, some 120 grit and a little water. First vibe pic I started with but then took out a few larger petoskey and added smaller septarian. 2nd vibe pic is after and a little burst of moving them around. Let me know if I did any bad no no's please.
