New to rock tumbling, not new to lapidary. I finally broke down and bought a tumbler and I am still experimenting. This is my third batch of rocks and a bunch of them have these black marks all over them. How do i keep this from happening in the future? TIA!

Are you using a metal colander/strainer when rinsing your rocks? If so, that is likely the culprit. Change to a plastic colander if this s the case.

Iron or stainless are harder than Aluminum and tend to not leave marks. Aluminum is bad to leave marks on stones.
