I am geeking out at these. Anyone know what the host rocks are? It was tough to photograph to show all of the copper areas in these. I think they are from Yooperland, aka UP of Michigan. Size reference is the 5 x 7 paper they are on. Thanks

I did a little Googling and it seems basalt is the most common host rock.
Also, that very orangy slab upper left looks like copper fire brick. Cool!

A lot of the mines around Calumet had that where much of the copper was pounded out of . Did you get those from the lady sitting on tailgate ? She is good people , lives in Calumet .

Stand corrected on the Kingston Conglomerate. It's still very cool!

As threatened here are a couple pieces of firebrick we got from a Yooper friend a couple weeks ago . First one is about 3/8" thick Next one about 1 1/2" thick and rough on back As long as I'm terrorizing Fernies thread , here is a pair of copper ore bookends

As previously stated Basalt is the common greenish/black which is Olivine Basalt and the red like in the Kingston copper is Rhyolite. Both are common in the UP though I would guess the Basalt is more abundant.
