I was pretty nervous to start tumbling Amazonite because of that cleavage, but I ended up having a really great experience with this stone. It took a great shine really quick. I could not have been happier with this one!
Like Kambaba, I compiled a video of my entire tumbling experience as documentation of what I did.
And here are a few pics of this fantastic stone!

In hindsight I realized I should have posted this in the Rock Tumbling Photos section Maybe a Mod could move this over to the proper section? Sorry about that!

Those came out very well! Amazonite really is easy to break, so you did really great!
I liked your video. I have a question, though- Why do you put a band over your watch?
Don't worry. Your post is fine where it is.

Thank you! I did have a few casualties along the way that I had to take out of the batch for fear they would contaminate the rest, but it was probably only about 3 pieces. I'm saving those for a future batch
My watch... Hmmmm.... It's a FitBit? I'm not sure what you mean.

Hat's off to you. A tricky one to tumble polish.

Any feldspar is difficult to tumble and get good results. I will be watching your video as soon as I am done with this comment. Your post is timely. I was at an eastern Ontario mine (Beryl Pit) last weekend and collected some really blue amazonite for tumbling. I also got some nice peristerite. Probably they will be in my next tumble, unless I decide to roll the rocks collected in BC last month instead. My window for tumbling in my shed is rapidly shrinking. We will have snow soon. God, I go off topic more than Biden. What I wanted to say for those who collect is that I learned something last weekend. It rained on us really hard. One might think that would be a problem. Well, I got soaked, but once the exposed rocks were wet, the collecting was EASY. I quickly had full pockets of beryl, peristerite and amazonite from an area that I had looked over earlier (when dry). If it isn't raining, I would suggest a spray bottle....especially if there is a puddle somewhere to refill it.

Your explorations and tumbling videos are really well done and informational! The fact that you found Amazonite is amazing - I can't wait to see what your specimen look like!

Great question - I've tumbled both. Aventurine is a Quartz and doesn't have the perfect cleavage that Amazonite does, so it's not as fragile in the tumbler. However, the thing that makes Aventurine beautiful is the flecks of Mica in the stone. Mica is softer than the Quartz so if there is alot more mica in a particular batch of rough, it may be a challenge to get the surface smooth enough to take a great polish. But both are fantastic tumbles!
