Have had Lot-O for years now without having to replace anything. This morning I tried firing ‘er up and she wanted to spin but the fans seemed to just barely spin and then stop. Since the motor fired up could i assume it’s the fans and just replace those or is it a guessing game? Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance sounds more like the motor isn't spinning, replacing fans wont do anything. probably gunk in the sleeves/bearings after years, esp if it's sat for a while. I'd take the fans off, spray some wd near the shaft (or some of the motors actually have an oiling hole for the sleeve some light machine oil in there (ususally soaks a felt piece near the sleeve.) Try to get it spinning by helping it get started by hand.

I'm thinking you need a motor. Lube may help or it may not.

Personally, I'd not use WD to lube the shaft bushings, WD stands for "water displacer", it will eventually dry and make a very gummy residue. 3 in 1 makes a 20 wt. oil for motors, comes in a small container. I get it at Lowes. Tri Flow or Breakfree are also good lubricants, long lasting and non-drying. I agree with EricD, may or may not work, I've experienced both, but it never hurts to try.

Let's make this simple. If your tumbler has bearings lube will not help you. If it has bushings it will.

I’ll check everything out and then act accordingly. I did try to spin by hand and it wouldn’t go into full spin mode. Thanks for your suggestions!

Thanks for your suggestions! given that I'd have to go with the dead motor camp - does the shaft spin freely when it's not powered on? that'd rule out the bearing/bushing.

I jumped the gun a little too soon without taking it apart and seeing what might have been wrong. So I found out it was a thin piece of metal that had broken off of one side of the bearing or something inside the motor that went around one of the shafts. Pulled that broken metal all the way off/out and it’s worked fine. At least I have a back up motor now.
Edit: and I used my spot cleaning gun to wash off everything (minus the motor) and now looks as good as new. Fans were nasty looking!
